The New York Giants’ history of first-round NFL Draft picks stretches back to the beginning of the “Annual Selection Meeting” in 1936. During that time, the franchise has had very mixed success with their first-round selections, with the past 10-15 years being considered a generally poor group of selections. Let’s take a look at the full history of the Giants’ first-round NFL Draft selections.

New York Giants first-round draft picks in history

The Giants have made the first overall selection on two occasions since 1936. They did have the honor one other time but traded the rights to the pick to the Minnesota Vikings. New York has had three of its first-round selections enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. However, the last such selection came back in 1981 with the selection of Lawrence Taylor at No. 2 overall.
